Like most teenagers, my three biggest passions were music, fashion, and sport. I managed to combine all three in my early career, running a fashion store (5 /60 Split) selling British and American vintage clothing. 50/60 Split diversified into alternative fashion, then added surf, skate and snowboard gear into the mix. A change of name to Split Skates, and it became the biggest surf and skate store in Europe, selling my own brand of clothing. The store was so large we had indoor ramps, and even had a band play in the store. I ran several other surf and skate stores in Braunton and Scarborough.
Along side surf, skate and snowboarding, my preferred sport was Thai Boxing, where I trained under Thohsaphol Sitiwatjana (AKA-Master Toddy), in Manchester. Master Toddy has trained many champions, including Kash Gill, Lisa Howarth and Ronnie Green. After moving out to the USA and then returning home to Thailand, Master Toddy is continuing to train champions.
Master Toddy appeared in the James Bond film “The Man With A Golden Gun”. In order to gain the role, Master Toddy had to fight six graduates of Bruce Lees’ school of Jet Kune Do. He beat four, and the other two backed out. The training at Master Toddy’s Academy was very intense I was always on the alert to find the most effective way to recover. This led to a fascination with Sports Massage and Thai Massage. My passion for improving sports performance inspired me to pursue a career in massage therapy.
